The mission of the United States Air Force is to fly, fight and win...in air, space and cyberspace. To achieve that mission, the Air Force has a vision of Global Vigilance, Reach and Power. That vision orbits around three core competencies: Developing Airmen, Technology-to-Warfighting and Integrating Operations. Core competencies and distinctive capabilities are based on a shared commitment to three core values -- integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do.
The Air Force Research Laboratory Director of Strategic Development Planning and Experimentation (SDPE) is responsible for leading the Air Force SDPE team to support the Secretary of the Air Force (SECAF) and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force (CSAF) in strategic decisions that guide the AF toward mission success today and in the future, within available funds and with acceptable risk. The SDPE Directorate supports the AF Capability Development Council (CDC) by marshaling AF resources to explore materiel and non-materiel solutions to challenges spanning multiple domains or service core functions. It supports the AF CDC by supporting Enterprise Capability Collaboration Teams (ECCT) by bringing together users and operators from all AF domains, core functions, requirements, acquisition, intelligence, and science & technology (S&T) communities to formulate and explore innovative multi-domain concepts to mitigate capability gap(s) and better understand the operational decision space. The Director monitors the progress of efforts directed by flight plans approved through the actions of previous ECCTs and provides recommended actions to the AF CDC.
