The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Michael DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC), Houston is recruiting for a Section Chief of Radiation Oncology. The MEDVAMC is one of the main teaching hospitals for Baylor College of Medicine's (BCM) Radiation Oncology Residency. The section's staffing includes four additional radiation oncologists, three physicists, one physician assistant, three dosimetrists, eleven technologists, two nurses, a health technician, a secretary and a clerk.
Our department receives around 850 new consults and treats 500 new patients annually. Our Radiation Oncology Section is ACR Accredited, and provides comprehensive radiotherapy using SRS, SBRT, IMRT, IGRT and 3D-CRT. Current equipment includes a Cyberknife; two state-of-the-art dual energy Linear Accelerators: Varian 2100 EX and Varian Trilogy with CBCT; a Philips big-bore CT simulator; BAT ultrasound; MOSAIQ and Pinnacle systems, Accuray Multiplan treatment planning system, and Velocity multi-modality deformable image registration software.

Applicants should have demonstrated accomplishments in clinical care, research, academic activities and teaching in the field of Radiation Oncology. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to provide vision and leadership in developing outstanding multidisciplinary patient care programs, and to work effectively with others. Supervisory experience preferred. Candidate must have successfully completed an ACGME accredited residency program in Radiation Oncology, and be proficient in 3D-CRT, IMRT, IGRT and SBRT and SRS. Experience with Cyberknife Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Body Radiation is highly desirable. A full, current, active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory or commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia is required. The selected candidate will have the opportunity for a faculty appointment at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). Excellent benefits with full federal malpractice coverage provided under Federal Tort Claims Act. Salary and rank are commensurate with credentials, accomplishments and prior experience. A recruitment bonus may be offered to a highly qualified candidate.
