VA Northern Indiana Health Care System is seeking innovative Nurse Practitioners to become part of our Healthcare Team. This is an open and continuous posting in which you will identify the areas in which you are interested in working. Areas include inpatient and outpatient areas to provide care to our Nation's Veterans.
The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) functions relatively independently as guided by approved clinical protocols, and privileges, functioning within the scope of practice for a licensed ARNP. Ongoing collaboration with physicians, nursing staff and other health team members is essential. The incumbent is accountable for all decisions and actions in the care of assigned patients under the direct supervision of the assigned Physician Preceptor. The incumbent provides care within a defined scope of practice. Duties/tasks include, but are not be limited to: performing initial and interim history and physical examinations; ordering laboratory, radiologic and other diagnostic tests and providing initial interpretations; ordering EKG's and providing initial interpretation; screening patients for disease prevention and identifying health risks and needs; formulating a diagnosis based on history, physical examination and clinical findings; developing and implementing a treatment plan, ordering appropriate pharmacological agents, referring to other healthcare professionals or community agencies as appropriate; assessing patient's learning needs, developing, implementing plans to meet needs, and instructing patients and families in self-care and treatment; documenting of assessments, reassessments, differential diagnosis, plan of care and patient education in the clinical record.
