WHAT IS THE SENIOR MANAGER READINESS PROGRAM (SMRP)? The Senior Manager Readiness Program offers the opportunity for well qualified individuals to receive structured professional leadership development and experience. During the twenty-four (24) months training and development program, all candidates will be assigned a mentor, complete Career Learning Plans, attend leadership-training classes, and participate in a variety of developmental activities. In addition, candidates will receive at least one developmental assignment at the senior manager level. As a senior manager, you will be responsible for assigning, directing, and reviewing the work of subordinate managers and employees. In this role, you will use your leadership skills and management techniques for planning, scheduling, and coordinating work operations, planning and carrying out the training and development of managers and employees, evaluating work performance, and in performing all other functions related to this level position. Generally, as a Senior Manager, you are a manager of managers and accountable to a Senior Executive Service position, and are responsible for the overall effective operation of a program. Temporary Promotions in this Program are not subject to the 120 day limitations.
WHAT IS THE WAGE & INVESTMENT (W&I) DIVISION? The Wage & Investment Division (W&I) serves more than 123 million taxpayers who file upwards of 94 million returns each year. Key W&I objectives are to provide high-quality taxpayer assistance, and to enable taxpayers to transact and communicate electronically to file their returns, make payments and receive assistance. W&I partners with private organizations to provide assistance to such disadvantaged groups as elderly and low-income taxpayers.
