This is a training position leading to the position of Staff Prosthetic Representative in the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS). The incumbent serves under the preceptorship of a Supervisory Prosthetic Representative (Chief) for the purpose of orientation and indoctrination in the specialized functions particular to administration and management of the prosthetic program. The incumbent must sign a statement of understanding regarding mobility before acceptance into the training program. The incumbent will serve in a series of developmental assignments that are designed to provide knowledge, Skills, abilities and experience to perform the full range of routine and non-routine assignments with a high level of independence. The Technical Career Field (TCF) is a national workforce development program within Veterans Health Administration (VHA) that was designed to replenish technical staff in critically identified positions. The TCF Career Fields represent those technical fields where VA specific knowledge and experience is desirable for success in the field. Individuals follow a formal training plan for two years during which they are trained, coached, and supervised by a preceptor. Preceptors are selected annually, through an extensive application process, for their technical expertise, their commitment to training and the suitability of their facility as a training location. Selectees will be required to sign a Mobility, Training, Continued Service and Participant Agreements.
