The National Defense University (NDU) is recruiting for an Assistant Professor of International Security Studies to support the instruction of the Master of Arts in Strategic Security Studies (MASSS) Program. As a member of the College's faculty, will apply professional expertise and academic creativity to course design whenever it will stimulate learning, develop syllabi, enrich reading assignments, and enliven seminar discussions.
NDU develops joint warfighters and other national security leaders through rigorous academics, research, and engagement to serve the common defense.
As one of NDU's five graduate institutions, the College of International Security Affairs educates selected military officers, interagency civilians, and international students to function successfully in a dynamic and increasingly complex global security environment.
This is a Title 10 Excepted Service Appointment. Appointment is not to exceed 3 years with the possibility for extension. Prepare and deliver graduate level lectures and guide seminar discussions for any of CISA's core, concentration or elective courses. Applies professional expertise and academic creativity to course design whenever it will stimulate learning, develop syllabi, enrich reading assignments, and enliven seminar discussions.
Guides and assists student research and serves as a Thesis advisor to individual American and International students towards timely completion of high quality theses. Mentors, counsels, and advises students in the role of faculty advisor.
Conducts research to maintain and strengthen currency, expertise, and professional stature in the field and publish research and findings in scholarly journals.
Engages in outreach that shares the learning experience outside NDU and the College faculties. Maintains professional relationships with relevant international contacts, DOD, and Federal agencies, universities and/or industry to support the College's guest speaker program, promote College programs and/or identify new opportunities for the College
