This is a Cyber Excepted Service (CES) position in the Excepted Service.
This position is part of the Dept of Defense Chief Information Officer. As a IT Specialist (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC), this position is located in he Office of the Secretary of Defense, DoD Chief Information Office (DoD CIO), Office of the Deputy Chief Information Officer for Cybersecurity (DCIO-CS) and DoD Senior Information Security Officer (SISO).
The DoD CIO is the Principal Staff Assistant (PSA) and advisor to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense for information technology (IT), including national security systems (NSS), information resources management (IRM) matters. The DoD CIO is responsible for all matters relating to information and the DoD information environment including command and control (C2), communications, radio frequency spectrum, network operations, information systems, information assurance (IA), defensive cyber security, and positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT).
The Deputy Chief Information Officer - Cybersecurity (DCIO-CS) and DoD Senior Information Security Officer (SISO) serves as the DoD Senior Information Assurance Officer pursuant to Section 3544(a) (3) of the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) of 2002 (44 USC 3544 ), and provides expert policy, technical, program, and defense-wide oversight, coordination and integration support to the DoD CIO on all aspects and matters related to information assurance, identity protection and management, critical asset and infrastructure protection. The DCIO-CS serves as the interface between the Department and corporate Defense Industrial Base (DIB) participants in execution of a cybersecurity information sharing program for safeguarding DoD information on unclassified privately owned networks.
