This position is located in a Decision Writing Unit, National Case Assistance Center, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Office of Hearings Operations (OHO).
The incumbent serves as a first-line supervisor providing guidance and direction to subordinate employees who are engaged in drafting decisions on requests for hearing filed under titles
II, VIII and XVI of the Social Security Act, as amended (the Act). The incumbent must be a member in good standing in, and authorized to engage in the practice of law by, the Bar of a State, Commonwealth, or Territory of the United States or the District of Columbia, and meet all requirements established by the Office of Personnel Management in this regard.

SSA-4100 PROVISION
The SSA-4100 provision applies to employees whose permanent or temporary duty station is outside of the Falls Church, VA [including Alexandria (Ford Ave) and Arlington (Crystal City), VA]/ Washington DC Headquarters.

NONCOMPETITIVE CONSIDERATION

This position is in the Excepted Service. Only permanent excepted service employees will be considered.
Selected employee is subject to the completion of a 1-year probationary period for a supervisory position unless the employee served in such a position before August 11, 1979, or has completed one.
