The Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (L-MFT) within the RCS (Readjustment Counseling Service) would serve as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. The L-MFT would be responsible for providing family, couple and marriage counseling to Veterans and their family members within Readjustment Counseling Service and may also be requested to provide readjustment counseling services Veterans individually as well. The L-MFT conducts intakes, assessment interviews, develops treatment plans, and provides treatment to eligible Veterans and their families. Treatment modalities may include crisis intervention as well as both short term and long term services. The L-MFT may refer patients to other programs and professionals to include other programs within Readjustment Counseling Service, the local VAMC and/or the resources within the local community. This task is accomplished in collaboration with other members of the Vet Center or other interdisciplinary treatment teams both within the Department of Veteran Affairs or community agencies, and community/government social services agencies.
