This is a full-time position located within the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service (NPS), Accounting Operations Center (AOC), Payment and Travel Management Team or Receipts and Debt Management Team, in Herndon, VA. The AOC is the centralized financial headquarters of the NPS and provides a variety of services to the NPS units, program offices, employees, contractors, and customers/vendors.
The purpose of this position is to analyze and evaluate financial data to better track and assist NPS management in the efficiency and effectiveness of managing and budgeting their financial accounts. The position also assists higher graded financial analysts, accountants and other bureau financial management employees in providing accounting and financial management services to the NPS.
Salary Range Information:
GS-07: $45,972 - $59,762
Relocation expenses are not authorized. Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. Any travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the responsibility of the selected employee.

At the full performance level (GS-09) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Participates in the planning and performance of financial management studies that involve the analysis of interrelated administrative processes; i.e. budgetary, financial, procurement, and property management functions.
2) Recommends adaptation of established procedures to eliminate problems or to improve the operations under study.
3) Participates in the review and evaluation of financial systems for effectiveness of internal controls and integrity of the organizations financial information.
4) Analyzes processing flows, reviewing data in reports and financial statements, and identifying abnormal trends and control weaknesses.
