This position is located in the Region I, Cambridge, MA Office of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), reporting to the Director of the Office of Planning and Program Development. The office is responsible for administering the applicable sections of the Federal Transit Administration Act of 1964, as amended, the applicable provisions of 23 U.S.C. 103 (e) (4) and 23 U.S.C. 142, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the Clean Air Act, as amended. This includes the planning, capital and operating grant programs of FTA and their management for assigned projects. The area of responsibility includes the States of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont
The Office of Planning deals with transit programs that are characterized by the highest degree of complexity and sensitivity due to the type and number of on-going projects; the involvement of large sums of money and complex financial arrangements; the coordination of different transit needs; the involvement of multiple governmental jurisdictions; and the level of particularly complex, novel, and politically sensitive issues.
