6B201A: This is a developmental position leading to the full performance level of GS-12. Closer supervision and technical guidance and/or on-the-job training are provided. Duties are gradually broadened so the incumbent is eventually performing all of the duties of the full performance level, position description number 6B2010.
At the full performance level, the incumbent is responsible for performing facility and communication management functions and providing support in the development, preparation, and submission of the consolidated budget. Duties include determining requirements for space and/or equipment, researching, analyzing, developing and evaluating physical operational needs and issues throughout the SSA region; determining the need for and location of new or modified communications equipment; negotiating with SSA, GSA and municipal governmental entities on facility planning, acquisition of space and realty, relocation of facilities, building or services, level of services, site selection, location criteria, tenant-owner relationships, and project completion schedules; analyzing fiscal needs, and the allocation of funds relating to overtime, space, training, change of duty station, recruitment, etc; determining need and methods for reprogramming and/or reallocation of resources; revising financial planning to accommodate changes in procedures, policies, or priorities; advising the Regional Commissioner and senior staff on budget, staffing and fiscal matters.
Substitution of education is not applicable for this position.
Position to be filled under the provisions of the Management Officials Promotion Plan. The best-qualified list for this vacancy may be used to fill the same or similar positions in a component(s) under the same Deputy Commissioner. Additional selections may be made within 6 months of the date the best qualified list is issued.
LOCALITY PAY: Salary will be set in accordance with locality pay provisions. The locality pay for this area is 24.59%. Candidates currently receiving a higher locality pay than the office applied for are advised that should they be selected, they will lose entitlement to the higher locality pay.
