The purpose of the position is the planning and implementation of a recreation resource program including lands, recreation special uses, wilderness, developed sites, dispersed recreation, trails, scenery management, interpretive planning, and scenic byways.

GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level.Examples of specialized experience are: Recommended potential sites or areas for additional recreation use and planned development; implemented recreation plan objectives and inspected the full range of recreation uses; participated in the development, administration and execution of annual work plans for recreation resources in compliance with agency guidelines and direction; assisted in preparing recreation, scenery and designated areas specialist reports; participated on interdisciplinary team representing recreation resources for wide range of environmental analyses; participated in the development and application of recreation opportunity spectrum classifications, scenery management, and identification, and evaluation and recommendation of congressionally or administratively designated areas; coordinated with other natural resource disciplines to ensure requirements of recreation, scenery, and designate area programs are integrated in project planning and execution.
