Serves as the Branch Director of IT, supervising a team of specialists performing Systems Administration work and the delivery of Information Technology to serviced activities. Under command guidance and supervisory directives, coordinates and integrates the work of employees involved in automation operations, systems administration and projects. Formulates and publishes technical guidance and standard operating procedures for IT specialists; and ensures that supplies, equipment and other materials are available. Implements systems security plans, policies and preventive maintenance schedules. Using systems diagnostic tools and fault identification techniques, runs tests to verify operability and functionality. Carries out routine maintenance, upgrade, and support of servers. Performs assignments using standard principles, theories, concepts and methods for systems administration and systems engineering.
Provides ongoing optimization and problem solving support to minimize interruptions in customers' ability to carry out critical business activities. Provides information and instructions related to the maintenance and service process. Runs systems backups. Prepares and presents reports and briefings to technical staff. Interprets IT policies, standards and guidelines. Develops network usage policies and procedures. Applies information security and information assurance policy, principles, and practices.
Supervises assigned staff, defines organizational objectives and specific goals of the subordinate IM element, plans short-range and long-range work to be accomplished, and adjusts long-range schedules, objectives, and goals in relation to the workload, personnel required, and priorities.
