Internship opportunities are available in the Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection (DCP), Administrative Management and Operations Branch, Information Security and Technology Systems Section. The mission of the Information Security and Technology Services Branch include providing information security and privacy programs that assures integrity, confidentiality, and availability of corporate information by proactively protecting the assets from unauthorized access and misuse.
The applicant selected will be offered an excepted appointment. After successful completion of the program requirements and based on FDIC’s needs, the selectee(s) may be non-competitively converted to a Term or Permanent position based upon an evaluation of performance, completion of at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program. However, service in the FDIC Internship Program confers no right to further employment in the competitive or excepted service.

The position involves supporting the Information Security and Technology Systems Section in performing its responsibility to coordinate IT security for the Division. Our division is the second largest in staffing at the FDIC, and has several key systems of record. These systems require close monitoring for security accuracy, and access to them requires daily support.
The intern assigned to the Information Security and Technology Systems Section will perform the following duties:
U.S. Citizenship is required.

If selected, you may be required to serve a trial period.
All selectees must sign a Pathways Participant Agreement.
To be eligible for conversion to the competitive service, you must complete 640 hours of work experience (up to 320 hours may be waived based on successful performance in the position and a 3.45 overall GPA); meet the OPM qualification standards for the target position; and meet the requirements of the FDIC Pathways Agreement.
