The incumbent assist the treatment team and is responsible for coordinating patients' activities as well as the management of all of the administrative tasks of the ASPIRE Center. The incumbent participates in the ASPIRE Center staff functions and provides feedback and suggestions on program planning.. A large part of the duties involve being the liaison between clinical and administrative staff along with other VA Medical Center Services. In his/her capacity as the Program Support Assistant, the incumbent engages in activities which extend the functions and support the mission of the ASPIRE Center Program and is familiar with VASDHS, Mental Health and ASPIRE Center regulations and procedures.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week, Monday thru Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm or 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Has a full understanding of the VA Medical Center, Mental Health Care Line and MH Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP) policies and procedures and stays abreast of changes that may affect the program. Responsible for the accurate submission of all administrative and statistical reports of the ASPIRE Center, and ensures that deadlines are met for submission of reports. Serves as the Veteran Liaison to the Chief: ASPIRE Center and the ASPIRE Center Staff.
Responsible for completing or delegating administrative elements of new Veteran admissions and discharges to/from ASPIRE center including entering appropriate data into VISTA, etc.
Responsible for tracking all Veterans referred, admitted, and discharged from ASPIRE Center. Manages and maintains databases which contain a wide variety of Veteran-specific information, including management of the waiting list and reporting the bed census of the ASPIRE Center. Acts as liaison with Veteran Residents by leading a recurring Community Meeting and assisting Veteran Run Government, conducting health and comfort inspections of living areas and common areas, leading/assisting with therapeutic recreational activities, and overseeing Veteran involvement in clean-up activities as part of the therapeutic milieu.
Provides full assistance to the Program Manager and the Nurse Manager in the administrative program elements of the of the ASPIRE Center. Receives all calls and visitors and assists Veterans, family members, staff, volunteers, vendors. Incumbent assists with general telephone inquiries. Incumbent assists with visitor referral services by directing Veterans, visitors, and callers to the appropriate staff member based on specific request or by ascertaining the nature of the call. Incumbent acts as a liaison to other managers and staff within the VA and provides accurate advice on procedures, reports, requirements, and other matters necessary to implement the ASPIRE Center's policies, directives, and instructions.
Incumbent acts as the Service's Fund Control Point Clerk. This includes executing purchase orders and tracking/reconciling credit card transactions. Researches vendors consistent with VA policies and tracks budget. Incumbent serves as a Purchase Cardholder for the Service. Incumbent complies with all the acquisition regulations, both Federal and VA. Serves as a Service timekeeper and is responsible for maintaining employee schedules and time and attendance.

VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
