Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst (GS-1515-all grades):
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience for GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes: Analyzing elements affecting costs and/or effectiveness for a project of limited scope; Preparing required recurring documentation (such as reports) for ongoing projects/operations; Assisting senior operations research analyst in using routine resource estimating methods (such as analogy, engineering or scientific methodology, and extrapolation); Assessing factor impact on the costs to design a cyber project using cost estimating outputs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Specialized Experience for GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes: Applying mathematical/statistical techniques for determining the cost and/or effectiveness of resources; Developing standards for analyzing testing methods; Developing statistical models for analysis of resource data to meet customer requirements; Presenting project outcomes for customer meetings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
