Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Individual Occupational Requirements: Applicants must be currently licensed to practice as practical or vocational nurses in a State or Territory of the United States or the District of Columbia or must have applied for a license to practice. (NOTE: You must attach Licensure/Certification with application package)
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) providing individualized nursing care to patients; 2) administering medication through various methods; 3) screening and reviewing health records; 4) performing procedures such as electrocardiograms (EKGs), spirometry testing, phlebotomy procedures, and/or vision screening tests.
This definition of specialized experience for the GS-06 grade level is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
