Duty Location: 156th Airlift Wing Maintenance Squadron (MXAAA), Muniz ANGB, Carolina, PR
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
This position require military membership in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard (PRANG). If you are not a military member of the PRANG (i.e. member of the PR Army NG, civilian, active duty Airman, prior service, Airman member from another state, reservist, IRR, State Guard, etc.), you must contact the ANG Recruiting and Retention Superintendent (RRS) Office at (787) 787-289-1400 Extension 1713 or (787) 529-2094 and request the PRANG Military Basic Requirements (MBR) Certification. If the MBR certification is not submitted, or you do not meet the requirements to be a member of the PRANG, your application will not be screened. AREA OF CONSIDERATION:
Area 1 = Permanent technicians Enlisted members currently employed in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard.
Area 2 = Enlisted members of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard and personnel that meet all requirements to become an Airman in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard. (This position requires Air National Guard membership).

As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (D1366P01), WU-8852-10, you will inspect, repair, modify, and service aircraft systems, components, and assemblies, both on and off aircraft. Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include periodic, phase, hourly, preflight, calendar, thru-flight, and special inspections such as fuel contamination, emergency equipment, and oil sampling. Troubleshoots and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft, utilizing various gauges, meters, measuring devises and other related test equipment.
Physical Demands:
Requires moderate physical exertion when climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Routinely required to objects weighing up to 20 pounds, occasionally may lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Working Environment:
Works indoors and outdoors in inclement weather on icy, wet, hot, and slippery ramps; aircraft surfaces, work stands, and ladders; and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, dust, dirt, grease, lubricants, points, solvents, high pressure air and fluids; fast actuating aircraft surfaces such as speed brakes, flaps, and landing gear; engine noise, heat blast, and intake suction; rotating propellers; explosive munitions; electrical voltage; cartridge actuating devices; liquid oxygen; fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, etc. Frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, burns, shock, strains and broken bones.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training which provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess more than EIGHTEEN (18) months of specialized experience performing or supervising duties such as troubleshooting and performing unscheduled maintenance on assigned aircraft; working experience of the makeup, operation and installation of a variety of systems, assemblies, and surfaces; removing, replacing and adjusting various systems assemblies, and surfaces or any of their components and parts; connecting, meshing and adjusting surfaces, assemblies, and systems with one another, using precision test equipment, technical data, schematics, wiring diagrams, mathematical formulas, common hand tools, jigs, templates, and various gauges.
INDEFINITE:
This position is advertised against a valid manyear until 30 September 2018. If funding becomes available, personnel action may become permanent without further competition, upon recommendation of immediate supervisor, or may be terminated at any time by management decision.
An applicant selected for an indefinite appointment will occupy a full-time position without a specific time limitation. A technician in this type of appointment does not work towards permanent tenure and can be terminated at any time with a 30-day notice. The permanent status of a current permanent employee will not change in the event of a selection for a position that is being announced as indefinite. If a current permanent employee is selected, the position will be filled as a Temporary Promotion or a Change to Lower Grade. Employee serving under a temporary promotion may not retain a grade or rate of basic pay held during the temporary promotion. Study or job related training in aviation technology may be substituted on a day-for-day basis for not more than 9 months of the required specialized experience. A federal aviation airframe and power plant license may be substituted for 6 months of the required specialized experience. Copy of student transcripts or training certificates must be included in order to receive credit for education. Unofficial transcripts from internet or with alterations will not be considered. To receive credit for education the information must be included in the education section of the Resume.
