This position is located in the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration(VHA) at the Phoenix VAHCS. The incumbent works for the Chief of Business Operations. The selectee directly assists the Chief with the management of the operations of the Service; advises on and implements actions to ensure administrative requirements are met in such areas as budget and fiscal management, supplies and equipment management, contract management (must maintain Contracting Officer Representative (COS) certification, human resources management, strategic planning and program evaluation. This positions works closely with the other key personnel assigned to the Service, including subordinate department managers and program managers, to ensure effective and efficient delivery or health care services to patients. The selectee assists in establishing short and long range goals for hte Service which are consistent with the goals of the Medical Center, VISN 22 and VHA, and assists in developing strategies for achieving these goals. Develops and implements policies and procedures governing the provision of services by the service line. The incumbent provides guidance and direction to the clerical support staff of the service line.
You may qualify based on education; the following may be substituted for specialized experience:
Education: Have you successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or successfully completed two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the Administrative Officer position or completed all of the requirements for a LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws degree) or J.D. (Juris Doctor degree), if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
