The incumbent Serves as an integral member of the primary care team to provide accessible, integrated, biopsychosocial health care services. Uses evidence based practice and assists the team in the use of such practice; for example, the use of VHA/DOD clinical practice guideline for the treatment of MDD. When patients require consultation to specialty Mental Health services, this psychologist facilitates this process.
The incumbent provides a full range of psychological assessment and consultation services and diagnostics of mental disorders and behavioral health issues, particularly for complex or unusually difficult patients served by the Primary Care Team; biopsychosocial education to patients, family members, and significant others; comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy; behavioral health interventions to patients via consultation with the Primary Care Team such as biofeedback, treatment adherence and compliance, and behavioral modification; consultation to professional staff within the Robert J. Dole VAMC and to community providers, concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients; develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for patients on the Primary Care panel who require such treatment; consultative services to the Emergency Department and inpatient care facility as appropriate regarding medical decision making capacity, psychological assessment services and diagnosis of mental disorders. The incumbent functions independently as a member of the Robert J. Dole VAMC Medical Staff and assumes complete professional responsibility for his/her clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Occasional after hours/weekend hours may be required.
