The FEC Office of Inspector General (OIG) is an independent seven person office within the agency, with a dual reporting responsibility to both the Commission and Congress. The OIG is headed by the Inspector General (IG). The OIG's statutory mission and responsibilities, as enumerated in the IG Act of 1978, as amended, includes, among others; detecting and preventing fraud, waste, abuse and mismanagement in agency programs and operations; promoting economy, efficiency, and effectiveness; and conducting audits and investigations. The agency cannot interfere with the work of the OIG, including audits or investigations. The OIG conducts audits, investigations, and reviews of agency programs and operations. The work of the OIG is often highly sensitive and confidential, requiring the applicant to have exemplary judgment, self-control, and discretion.

As the Special Assistant to the IG, you are a valuable member of the OIG team. You will perform the full range of administrative duties for the OIG.

In early 2018 the FEC is scheduled to move from 999 E St N.W. to a new headquarters building which will be located at 1050 1st St. NE in Washington, D.C. - walking distance to the NoMa and Union Station Metro stops.
