GS-06 - Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
You may qualify for the GS 06 level based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience for the GS 06 level would typically include, but are not limited to:
1) Gathering computerized data from several sources using specific analysis techniques, and suggests actions to correct any deficiencies.
2) Maintaining patient access, compliance, and financial reports.
3) Handling conflicts and problems dealing with customers constructively and appropriately.
4) Experience processing accounts receivable/payable, billing, patient co-pays, or insurance claims.
5) Has been successful at working independently in a fast paced work environment experiencing disruptions and conflicting priorities.

1) Manage first and third-party healthcare accounts through on-line databases, electronic email, telephone conversations, etc, as well as eligibility data.
2) Evaluate detailed analysis of coding data for first and third-party accounts which requires utilizing medical terminology and coding requirements.
3) Prepare and assess billable and non-billable medical health care services, appropriateness of medical bills, and electronic submission and posting for overall program success.
4) Prepare a wide variety of written products, such as reports, memoranda, correspondence, etc. as related to the healthcare revenue.
5) Research and use public laws, agency healthcare regulations, practices and policies within a healthcare organization to ensure proper sequencing of revenue programs.
There is no educational substitution at these grade levels.
