67401W / 67401X: This is a developmental position leading to the full performance level of GS-9. Closer supervision and technical guidance and/or on-the-job training are provided. Duties are gradually broadened so the incumbent is eventually performing all of the duties of the full performance level, position description number 674010.
At the full performance level, the incumbent serves as a Senior Computer Assistant and LAN Administrator in the Office of Hearings and Appeals' HO (HO). Provides analytical, technical and administrative support, which includes independent decision making, for the HO Local Area Network (LAN) system. Performs expert troubleshooting. Serves as the primary adviser to management in the use of automated data processing (ADP) systems with responsibility for oversight, management and maintenance of ADP systems in a multi-operating system environment and as liaison with vendor representatives. This environment entails programming and processing, as well as administration and management of word processing, data processing, telecommunications, local area network, batch processing, database management/programming, electronic spreadsheet processing/programming and security. As a Senior Computer Assistant, the incumbent has primary responsibility over systems operations and automated case processing within the office.
Position to be filled under the provisions of the SSA Career Opportunities Training Agreement. The best-qualified list for this vacancy may be used to fill the same or similar positions in a component(s) under the same Deputy Commissioner. Additional selections may be made within 6 months of the date the best qualified list is issued.
LOCALITY PAY: Salary will be set in accordance with locality pay provisions. Candidates currently receiving a higher locality pay than the office applied for are advised that should they be selected, they will lose entitlement to the higher locality pay.
