ATEC plans and integrates developmental testing, independent operational testing, independent evaluations, assessments, and experiments to provide essential information to Soldiers and into the hands of acquisition decision makers supporting the American Warfighter.

Performs continuing developmental duties and assignments in relation to problems concerned with test and/or evaluation of a wide variety of military systems and equipment. Typical assignments at this level include, but are not limited to the following;
Serves as a support engineer or scientist, performing instrumentation engineering, development, testing, or integration where established criteria and technical precedents are generally established. Guidance from senior professional engineers and scientists is provided if precedents do not exist due to the accuracy and critical operating performance required for the acquisition and reduction of data in the dynamic testing of
Army material. These systems are composed of new and unusual types of equipment that are complex and must meet high standards of precision.
