About the Position:
This Engineering Technician position is located at U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center, Survivability/Lethality Dir, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) is located on more than 56,707 acres of land and water at the Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), in Harford County, MD.
As a Department of Defense major range and test facility, ATC tests a wide range of military weapons systems, equipment and material. ATC's goal is to assure that our nation's armed forces are provided with weapons and equipment which perform properly, safely, and reliably in the field. ATC has a very diverse workforce comprised of military, civilian and contractor personnel in the engineering, scientific, analytical, and technical and administration fields. The immediate area offers housing, public, private and parochial school systems, and major colleges. ATC is participating in an alternate personnel system known as the Acquisition Demonstration Project (AcqDemo). Among other features, the demonstration project replaced GS grade levels with occupational families and pay bands. The band NJ-03 is equal to the former GS-9 step 01 through GS-11 step 10. ATC uses control points within the salary range to allow for differentiation in the level of positions within the same broadband. Therefore, the salary for this position will be set no higher than $88,450.00.

Serves as a facilitator assisting the project engineers as a technical specialist in the submission, preparation and conduct of fabrication methods and machine tool technology projects.
Design and fabricate mechanical test equipment, measurement devices or weapon components when a simple objective of desired function is provided.
Set up and operate conventional machine tools such as lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, vertical, or horizontal milling machines, shapers, planers, internal and external grinders, radial drills and jig bores.
Provide mechanical design and fabrication support in the development of machines, fixtures, and measurement devices that are necessary to conduct tests.
Provide unique methods of determining previously unknown data concerning existing parts and assemblies, usually on foreign military hardware.
