This is a Department of the Air Force (AF) Pathways Student Internship Announcement (Summer). If you are looking for a unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience, an internship with the Department of the AF is for you. AF Internships offer challenging work and the opportunity to gain "real world" experience. The Internship offers valuable work experience directly related to your academic field of study or career goals. As an Intern, you will be given the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to pursue a successful career with the US Air Force upon completing your degree, certificate or diploma and meeting conversion eligibility requirements. However, it is important to remember that eligibility for conversion does not guarantee you will be offered a permanent position. Internship made under this announcement may be extended or may be non-competitively converted to permanent without further competition.
WHO MAY BE CONSIDERED: **Students** Enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a qualifying educational program as indicated in this vacancy announcement.
DURATION OF APPOINTMENT: Formal program will run from 8 to 10 weeks starting approximately 28 May 2018, this is an Excepted Service Appointment not to exceed 120 days. Summer interns work in "the" JAG offices throughout the world. Internships are temporary civilian positions and do not constitute permanent federal employment. Selection for an internship does not constitute an offer for accession as a judge advocate following law school, but outstanding performance is an important factor for those who apply to the JAG Corps in the future.
GENERAL INFORMATION: The United States Air Force Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps hires approximately 30 first-year and second year law students each summer to work as legal interns at Air Force JAG offices throughout the United States. JAG summer interns (Law Clerk) work as temporary civil service employees performing a variety of legal assignments. Interns do not incur any military service obligation for their internships. The majority of interns will be assigned to base legal offices throughout the United States. A few individuals will be assigned to a legal office in the National Capital Region (NCR). Unlike interns assigned to base legal offices who will work in multiple areas of law throughout the summer, interns assigned to the NCR will generally work in one subject matter area.
