About the Position:
Located in the scenic Hudson River valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a four-year academic institution, a nationally renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. The undergraduates, known as cadets, are commissioned as officers in the US Army upon graduation. You can watch them on parade or competing as intercollegiate athletes in a wide range of sports events. As a military installation, West Point is a small, self-contained city with housing for the military stationed here in support of the Academy, a Department of Public Works to maintain the roads, grounds and facilities, two libraries (Academic and Community), a military hospital, fire department, chapels, restaurants. West Point's 3,000 civilian employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theatre, the Hudson Valley's premiere performing arts center, and to recreational facilities such as an 18-hole Golf Course and Ski Slope.

As a Secretary (Office Automation) in the Office of the Commandant of Cadets, Simon Center for the Professional Military Ethic (SCPME), West Point, New York, the incumbent duties and responsibilities are but not limited to:
· Composes correspondence of a routine and nontechnical nature.
· Interact in a professional manner daily- via electronic mail, telephonic, or in person, with United States Military Academy (USMA) Cadets, Staff, and Faculty.
· Provide total administrative support to the Simon Center of Professional Military Ethics (SCPME) Honor Office.
· Maintain all honor case files.
· Performs a variety of clerical and administrative functions designed to improve the administrative and clerical management of the Center.
· Establishes and maintains office files.
· Receives requisitions and obtains pre-approval for purchases.
· Checks mandatory sources of supply prior to initiating purchases.
· Uses the Access On-Line (AXOL) system to record and reconcile purchases, reallocate associated expenditures.
· Assists the Executive Officer and Deputy Director with administration of academic courses (MX400) and events (NCEA, staff rides) associated with the SCPME.
· Submits program, event, and activity requests, lists, and other information.
· Utilizing knowledge and skill in office automation operates personal computer, electronic mail, and other keyboard controlled equipment to prepare a variety of correspondence.

Substitution of Education:
Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
