THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D0115000and is part of the FL 125th FW, National Guard.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency AND have dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 2: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 3: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1.
INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT: This is an obligated position (current occupant is on a Military Tour). If an individual employed in the excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will receive an indefinite appointment. If a Reduction-In-Force occurs and/or the military tour member reclaims this position, the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to his/her former position or any other position. If the military tour member, having reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years, this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition.

As a AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-6652-10, you will troubleshoot, install, remove, repair, modify, adjust, inspect, and test such components as regulators, flow indicators, actuator motors, thruster and positioning mechanisms, seat actuators, catapult guide rails, ejection seats, rocket packs, and canopies, etc. Inspect pressurization system air pressure gauges for sufficient pressure and bottles and regulators for general condition and serviceability. Perform installation, modification, and repair of aircraft egress systems. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluation inspections, mobility, and command support exercises.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, in inclement weather, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands, and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces such as landing sears, speed brakes, missile doors and flaps, and accidental discharge of the various ballistics units installed in aircraft ejection seat and canopy egress systems. Subject to the hazards of engine intake suction, noise, fumes, blast, heat, rotating propellers, explosive munitions: electrical voltage, cartridge actuating devices; liquid oxygen, fire and explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints, and solvents.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to lift heavy equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds and occasionally up to approximately 100 pounds.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.
