The VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System in Reno, Nevada Psychiatrists are an integral part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, and provide new patient appointments, diagnostic evaluations, prescribe medications, and provide rapid access appointments for established veterans. Depending on need, psychiatrists may provide psychiatry services to CBOCs via video teleconferencing.
This announcement will also be used to fill multiple Psychiatrists vacancies at the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System, which includes:
Addictive Disorder Treatment Program:
This Psychiatrist has expertise in Addictions evaluation and treatment of substance use disorders and dual-diagnosis to work with our dynamic Addictive Disorders Treatment Program team. Expertise in detox and use of buprenorphine are needed. Addictions fellowship training or experience is preferred, but not required.
Mental Health Clinic:
Mental Health Clinic psychiatrists have an assigned panel of patients. There is an opportunity to work with psychiatry residents who spend a year in the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic as a part of their residency program. The psychiatrist should be eligible for a clinical appointment at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. The psychiatry is expected to participate effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences, and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members. The psychiatrist participates in on-call duties, and performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, On-call service on nights, weekends, and/or holidays

Physical Requirements: : The physical requirements of this position include lifting, prolonged standing and sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing, reaching (overhead, extensive/repetitive), repetitive motion and stooping. The mental/sensory requirements include recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, keyboarding, reading and logical thinking. The environment's pace can vary from steady to a sometimes fast pace requiring handling of multiple priorities, frequent, sometimes intense customer interactions, and the ability to adapt to frequent changes in a sometimes noisy environment.

Additionally, this position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).
