The primary purpose of the position is to serve as a senior computer engineer for the oversight of design, installation, and software maintenance of complex classified and unclassified networks, multi-user computer systems, and data processing in support of research, modeling, and simulation systems to include office automation and computer communication systems at the Joint Warfare Analysis Center (JWAC).
ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. The employee may be recalled to duty, may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, and may be required to work overtime.
2. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military and/or commercial aircraft.
3. Incumbent must have or be capable of obtaining and retaining a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance, subject to a favorable Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) and may be required to complete a counter intelligence scope polygraph exam.
4. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. Therefore, incumbent is required to: (a) refrain from the use of illegal drugs, and (b) if requested, submit to urinalysis testing. Incumbent may be selected for random drug testing and may be subject to reasonable suspicion testing and safety mishap or accident testing.
5. Per DoD 8570.01 (Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program), this position has been classified as Information Assurance Technical Level II. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain the Security+ certification (or a higher level certification such CISSP).
6. Bachelor's degree required.
GS-0854 Computer Engineer has a positive education requirement. YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS.
GS-1515 Computer Scientist has a positive education requirement. You MUST have Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. NOTE: You MUST provide a copy of OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS.
IF USING EDUCATION TO QUALIFY: You MUST provide transcripts to support your educational claims. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
