SONORA OUTPATIENT CLINIC PAY RANGE: $50,598.00-$79,586.00
MONTEREY OUTPATIENT CLINIC PAY RANGE: $61,084.00-$96,080.00
The Mental Health Social Worker is assigned to one of various Mental Health Clinics ( Monterey or Sonora) and is under the direct administrative supervision of the Social Worker / Mental Health Clinic Coordinator. The incumbent performs direct clinical work at the independent practice level, demonstrating specialized knowledge and expertise in the assessment, planning and implementing of interventions for the broad spectrum of problems encountered in a typical general outpatient mental health clinic. Practice requirements fall into these general categories: 1) the ability to do psychosocial assessments, including determining diagnoses using DSM 5 guidelines; 2) the ability to provide general case management (including a demonstrated rudimentary knowledge of psychotropic medications) and the ability to provide individual, group and family psychotherapy (candidates will be encouraged to complete VA trainings in evidence based psychotherapies for special populations); and crisis intervention, including the ability to coordinate inpatient psychiatric admissions, coordinating welfare checks with local law enforcement departments, and mandated reporting to community agencies as needed. This position will do some addiction work, providing MI services as well as a relapse prevention group. The incumbent practices social work in a Mental Health Clinic, providing services to specialty populations as varied as recent Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom(OEF/OIF) returnees, patients with combat and sexual trauma PTSD, patients with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), patients with various psychotic and mood disorders, and geriatric patients with dementias and other cognitive disorders.
