The Director of the Space & Terrestrial Communications Directorate (S&TCD) leads a world-class, science and technology laboratory engaged in the research, development and engineering of experimental and state-of-the-art tactical and strategic communications inclusive of mobile networking; satellite communications; antenna technology; cyber security and information assurance; biometrics; network management; and systems of systems engineering for the US Army, Joint Services, and coalition force users. The Director is responsible for planning, directing, and executing the S&TCD resources and shapes future technology gap investments through mutual execution of programs focused on mid and far term warfighter capability needs. Substantially influences Army PEO programs, other customer programs, international programs, and cooperative research development activities with industry. Serves as authoritative technical expert on joint service and international panels to shape strategic investments in technologies and capabilities required to support DoD objectives. Executes an annual core mission and customer budget of approximately $ 240 Million supporting both technology development and system acquisition. Serves under supervision of the Director, CERDEC, who provides guidance in terms of broadly defined Army, AMC, RDECOM & CERDEC policies, mission and functions. Strategically manages a combined workforce of 829 consisting of Military, federal Civilians, and contractor support; directly supervises personnel at the ST level.
