Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment.
This position is a TERM position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of six years. This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.

As a Physician at the Army Staff Field Operating Agency, you will:
- Adjudicate active duty, reserve component, non-duty related and temporary disability retired list military personnel through the US Army.
- Evaluate cases of individuals referred by the Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) that have not met requirements for retention due to physical disability.
- Review cases to ensure inclusion of supporting evidence and advise on the completeness of the medical evidence.
- Review the medical board proceedings to ensure that regulatory requirements have been met and that findings and recommendations of the medical board are consistent with accepted medical principles.
