Flexible positions will normally be scheduled 0-40 hours per week dependent upon the needs of the organization. There is no guaranteed number of hours for flexible positions.
Schedule will include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Supervisory Controls:
Works under close supervision and direction of an assigned waiter of higher grade or supervisor who provides specific instructions for tasks to be performed. Initial assignments in each environment are made with detailed instructions and new or special procedures are explained. Supervisor or assigned waiter is consulted when difficult situations occur. Performance is observed while in progress to assure compliance with instructions and established procedures. Each phase of training is evaluated for consideration of overall performance upon completion of training period.
Major Duties:
This is a developmental position to Waiter, NA-7420-02, PD# 1262 or PD# AK078. As a trainee, develops the necessary skills and knowledge to perform at the full performance level the requirements as a waiter in a family type restaurant environment. Promotion may be made no sooner than 6 months or 130 days for flexible employees provided performance is satisfactory and the target level position is classifiable as to title, series, and grade.
Incumbent is assigned progressively more responsible and detailed tasks in food and beverage operations exclusive of fine dining operations.
Assigned tasks and instructions include exposure to setting up work area with required place settings, utensils and condiments; receiving guests and taking food and beverage orders; providing table service; preparing sales checks and receipt of cash or charge; registering sales and tallying cash receipts.
Duties may also include related assignments according to function in which participating such as preparation of dining area; cleaning and disposing of soiled linens, utensils, refuse, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Knowledge:
Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions, and, an understanding of sanitary food and beverage handling techniques, and, an understanding of food preparation methods of menu items.
Responsibility:
Receives close supervision and guidance. Complies with proper procedures, methods, dress and hygiene codes. Accountable for cash receipts until turn-in at close of shift, or entered in cash register, properly keyed.
Physical Effort:
Stands, walks, and stoops and stretches, usually for long periods of time, handling food and beverage trays and food containers, seldom weighing over ten (10) pounds.
Working Conditions:
Work primarily indoors in areas that usually have adequate light and heat. Exposed to possible cuts, bruises, minor burns from ovens, hot liquids and food container. Danger of slip
