As a Training Technician, GS-1702-07, your duties will be:
(1) Serves as the base training manager, ensuring that Unit Training Managers (UTMs) and Additional Duty Training Managers (ADTMs) are qualified in, and knowledgeable of their responsibilities. Supports unit training programs contributing to mission capability. Administers military training programs for all units serviced by the Military Personnel Flight (MPF). Oversees programs involving on-the-job training (OJT), formal school training, Extension Course Institute (ECI) training, Professional Military Education (PME), and ancillary training. Job categories and areas for which training is administered involve a
wide variety of technical, professional, clerical and wage occupations representative of acomplex military organization. Advises military commanders, UTMs and ADTMs, and through them, the individual supervisors, trainers, and certifiers concerning the status, progress, success, and programming of individual training. Plans, compiles and forecasts requirements for formal school training for out years based on retirements and other attrition projections, conversion of weapons systems, etc. Monitors and reviews all applications for training to ensure proper documentation and justification are provided, and that applicants meet prerequisites. Recommends cost effective methods to meet specialty job qualifications. Determines training priorities and requirements in accordance with Air Force and ANG directives. Develops statistical trend analyses on the status of training for
the organizations serviced. Provides information to commanders, and coordinates actions. Manages all officer and enlisted classification actions: Reviews the initial classification for newly accessed personnel.
(2) Monitors OJT programs for assigned units. Establishes local policies and procedures to provide a uniform and effective internal OJT program. Conducts training for training managers to familiarize them with concepts, scope, objectives, and procedures pertinent to OJT, and with regard to the responsibilities of commanders, supervisors, trainers, certifiers, and trainees in the organizations supported. Reviews personnel records and reports to determine training status of assigned personnel. Ensures that personnel are entered into the appropriate training status, and that adequate training materials, such as career development courses, are ordered. Reviews training progress of individual personnel, and initiates appropriate corrective action for substandard performance. Reviews all unit training waivers, Career Development Course (CDC)
reactivation/ reenrollment requests, and policies for adherence to applicable regulations. Maintains liaison between the MPF and serviced units on all OJT matters. Reviews and validates requests for retraining. Advises commanders and supervisors on matters pertaining to Extension Course Institute/Career Development Course (ECI/CDC). Manages the CDC/PME testing programs. Appoints test proctors. Conducts training to all assigned test proctors to ensure compliance with applicable directives. Coordinates with commanders, unit training managers, and supervisors on the progress of trainees.
Evaluates the administration, operation, and effectiveness of unit training programs and prepares written reports. Serves as the office of primary responsibility for implementing and managing OJT policy and procedures. Monitors and assesses the effectiveness of the Transition Training Program (TTP).
(3) Confers with management and other key operating personnel to discuss training needs, problems and goals. Establishes training objectives through analysis of training reports, unit input, course feedback, and USAF, ANG and gaining command directives. Schedules periodic staff assistance visits (SAVs) to serviced units to evaluate training programs and determine compliance with current regulations and directives. Reviews the effectiveness of unit training documentation. Manages personnel Air Force Specialty Code(AFSC) classification and oversees the utilization of assigned personnel. Monitors
the classification system to ensure all personnel identified for upgrade meet the mandatory requirements for award of the AFSC.
(4) Responsible for implementation of the Computer Based Training Program. Assembles and coordinates hardware and software used to train and test students in a variety of programs used as portions or segments of formal training programs, or as requisites prior to entering formal training courses.
(5) Responsible for the Apprentice Knowledge Testing (AKT) program. Reviews applicant qualifications, special civilian training certification, and eligibility to be tested. Conducts and scores tests, and awards 3-level AFSC to successful candidates,
thus bypassing the formal schooling otherwise required.
(9) Performs other duties as assigned.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
