About the Position:
The. U.S. Army War College seeks a postdoctoral fellow with regional studies expertise to conduct research related to Eurasia, Asia, Africa, the Middle East or Latin America. Additional expertise in areas related to military history, American foreign policy, and international relations will receive special consideration. Postdoctoral fellows will work within the Department of National Security and Strategy (DNSS) and will primarily conduct research, but will also contribute to the teaching mission.
Fellowships provide up to one year of support for individuals to conduct research after attainment of the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree.
Duration of the fellowships is 9 to 12 months, beginning no earlier than 1 July 2018, and no later than 1 September 2018. Fellowships may not be deferred or delayed.
Initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension to a second year depending on the needs of the institution, performance, and availability of funds. There is no guarantee of extension beyond the first year.
Upon appointment, postdoctoral fellows are paired with faculty supervisors responsible for directing the fellows' work and optimizing their professional development. Within the U.S. Army War College, fellows are assigned to the organization of the faculty supervisor. Fellows rely on their assigned organizations for office space, administrative support, official communication, and other necessities.
