This postdoctoral fellowship is a civilian faculty position at the U.S. Army War College as provided under Title 10, United States Code.
About the Position:
The U.S. Army War College seeks a postdoctoral fellow with expertise to conduct research related to Peacekeeping and Stability Operations (PSO) and will serve as a member of the research and teaching team at the Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute (PKSOI). Expertise in areas related to UN peacekeeping operations, UN reform, knowledge of current and prior stability operations, civil-military relations and/or irregular warfare and an understanding of U.S. government interagency relationships regarding PSO will receive added consideration. Postdoctoral fellows will primarily conduct research, but will also contribute to the teaching mission and will serve under the supervision of the PKSOI leadership.
Fellowships provide up to one year of support fo individuals to conduct research after attainment of the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree.
Duration of the fellowships is 9 to 12 months, beginning no earlier than 1 July 2018 and no later than 1 September 2018. Fellowships may not be deferred or delayed.
Initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension to a second year depending on the needs of the institution, performance and availability of funds. There is no guarantee of extension beyond the first year.
Upon appointment, postdoctoral fellows are paired with faculty supervisors responsible for directing the fellows' work and optimizing their professional development. Within the U.S. Army War College, fellows are assigned to the organization of the faculty supervisor. Fellows rely on their assigned organizations for office space, administrative support, official communication and other necessities.
