The location of this position is in the National Center For Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (NCPTSD) at the Pacific Islands Division, Department of Veterans Affairs, Honolulu, HI. The Director of the NCPTSD at the Pacific Islands Division develops and implements the Pacific Islands Division's program goals, strategic planning, setting priorities, and implementation strategies and implements innovative solutions to make organization improvements, ranging from incremental improvements to major shifts in director or approach, as appropriate. Major duties include, but not limited to:
Is expected to have attained a level of scholarly productivity consistent with a faculty appointment at a university at either the Associate Professor or Professor level.
Is a recognized authority in the area of mental health disparities or other ethnocultural issues.
Maintains a funded research portfolio on ethnic disparities and PTSD or related topics.
Director designs, formulates, ensures implementation and oversees all scientific research, analytical and educational, and programmatic activities. These activities relate to both independent projects within the Division and its wide-based affiliated collaborations with (a) other National Center sites, (b) other VA facilities, (c) VACO program and policy initiatives, (d) other federal agencies dealing with Service members or Veterans (e.g., DoD) and (e) international PTSD treatment and research settings or institutes.
Manages day-to-day operations in research and educational activities related to the National Center for PTSD.
Publishes in peer reviewed journals and presents outcome data/research results at VA and national scientific meetings
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some periods of standing may be required during presentations or training.
