If you are a motivated college senior or graduate student looking to contribute your unique insights, skills, and talents in securing our homeland, then the FLETC is looking for you! The FLETC's College Intern Program (CIP) is designed to provide you with a unique opportunity to gain on-the-job experience within a world-class law enforcement training environment. Participants are encouraged to avail themselves of everything the FLETC has to offer in exchange for providing high-caliber services to our organization.
Applications are being accepted for the following locations: Glynco, GA; Charleston, SC; and Artesia, NM.
The CIP summer session will begin on Sunday, May 20, 2018, and end on Friday, August 10, 2018.
All FLETC CIP internships are unpaid. College credit may be received upon the successful completion of the session (at the discretion of your educational institution). FLETC reserves the right to discontinue the CIP at any time for any reason.

You will elect at the time of your application to participate in either a law enforcement or non-law enforcement internship.
Law Enforcement Internship: Designed for students who are interested in a career in law enforcement, you will be assigned a mentor from one of the FLETC training divisions. Half of your time will be spent auditing basic or advanced training programs. The remaining half of your time will be spent working on meaningful training-related research and writing projects under the guidance of your mentor.
Non-Law Enforcement Internship: Designed for students who have a desire to work in the public sector. Under the guidance of a mentor, you will receive on-the-job experience in a professional work environment focused on the FLETC's business fields. In addition, you will receive opportunities to audit the FLETC's numerous basic or advanced training programs.

If you receive a tentative offer for this program, you will be required to complete an Optional Form 306, Declaration for Federal Employment, and to sign and certify the accuracy of all information in your application, prior to entry on duty. False statements on any part of the application may result in withdrawal of offer of employment, dismissal after beginning work, fine, or imprisonment.
To ensure the accomplishment of our mission, DHS requires every student volunteer to be reliable and trustworthy. To meet those standards, all selected applicants must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation for suitability as a condition of placement into the program. This will include a credit check after a tentative job offer is given, a review of financial issues such as delinquency in the payment of debts, child support and/or tax obligations, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs.
Applicants from Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) are highly encouraged to apply.
You must maintain student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the internship.
This internship does not offer conversion to permanent employment.
You will be required to complete the FLETC Student Volunteer Service Agreement if you are selected.
