We are seeking a clinical or counseling psychologist to provide services to Veterans presenting in an outpatient mental health and primary care settings. The Health Behavior Coordinator may be involved in the following: Serving as co-leader of the facility or HCS HPDP Program committee or subcommittee; assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of HPDP programs and services; collaborate with the Veterans Health Education Coordinator to provide training to facility PACT and other clinical staff who provide health coaching and health behavior change counseling to Veterans; provide MI training and ongoing follow-up and skills training to facility PACT and other clinical staff, as needed; collaborate with PACT, PC-MHI, and other Mental Health staff to ensure effective coordination of behavioral and mental health interventions that impact on the overall health of Veterans; provide direct patient care; serve as a subject matter expert in health coaching, MI, patient self-management, and health behavior change; provide developing content expertise on preventive health as it relates to the Healthy Living goals.
Skills: Applicants should possess excellent time management skills. They should possess excellent communication and negotiation skills to address the demands of the position. Because the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System has implemented a completely computerized medical record, applicants should be familiar with and able to easily use a personal computer. In particular, applicants should be proficient in using a word processing program and in using Windows. Applicants should be proficient in writing psychological reports, chart notes, and treatment summaries.
Abilities: Applicants should be able to prioritize their work appropriately and should seek consultation as needed to deal with difficult cases. Applicants should be able to demonstrate leadership abilities within an interdisciplinary team format and should be self-motivating to seek out and complete work assignments. Applicants should become familiar with VA and Psychology Service policies and procedures and should be able to follow protocol while maintaining necessary flexibility to overcome any barriers to providing services for Veterans.
Attitudes: Applicants should exhibit excellent customer service skills when interacting with both patients and coworkers. Applicants should remain positive even during times of high levels of stress. Applicants should be able to work collegially with all other professions and should demonstrate tolerance of those with difference opinions and/or attitudes.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
