Title Physician (Psychiatrist)
The Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center (VAACC) is an independent ambulatory care center located in Columbus, Ohio. This position reports to the Coordinator, Behavioral Health Service. The psychiatrist working in Behavioral Health is responsible for a panel of patients. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, he/she will focus on the psychiatric evaluation and medication management of veterans who suffer from a variety of mental health conditions, including, but not limited to, serious mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety disorders and substance abuse/dependence. Major duties include:
- Serves an active role in the development of a comprehensive treatment plan. May recommend various psychotherapeutic
interventions.
- Serves as a consultant and advisor to other professional staff and the community on the assessment, education, and
treatment of veterans with a variety of mental illnesses. Responsible for Joint Commission and System-wide Ongoing
Assessment and Review Strategy (SOARS) requirements in the treatment of mental illness.
- Participates in professional peer review of various types. He/she maintains and upgrades professional knowledge and skills by involvement in appropriate continuing education activities.
- May provide consultation and professional programs to community agencies in areas of professional expertise.
Physical Requirements
