The Nurse Practitioner (NP) Vascular Specialty is certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with formal training and experience in directing and delivering comprehensive Vascular care and education for patients with a variety of complex Vascular diseases. Patients include those with acute and chronic Vascular diseases and complex Vascular problems. the NP is principally responsible for delivering individualized, patient-family focused care to ensure comfort and well being to the patient, acknowledging physiological and psychological needs. Care is provided in outpatient clinics, inpatient units and via e-consult. The NP interacts effectively with patients, families and other healthcare team members to accomplish quality care outcomes. Acts as a consultant for outpatient, inpatient, and home-based primary care in assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and re-assessing the care of patients with a variety of Vascular conditions and is involved in the physical, emotional and social rehabilitation of patients. Collaborates with Vascular surgeons, other physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as well as the Vascular Clinic Coordinator.
Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties
Physical Requirements: Position requires heavy lifting 45 pounds and over, heavy carrying 45 pounds and over, straight pulling (4 hours), pushing (4 hours), use of fingers and both hands, walking and standing 8-12 hours, repeated bending 8 hours, both legs required, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision correctable 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in other eye, depth perception, ability to distinguish shades of colors, hear (aide permitted). Transferring patients and objects required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and will be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient and departmental needs.
