The Clinical Dietitian is the medical nutrition expert responsible for independently planning, developing and directing all nutritional care activities for assigned Veteran's, including those with complex medical and nutritional needs. He/she supports the facility's mission and coordinates nutritional care with other health care providers, Veteran, Veteran's family and the community. The increasing complexity and specialization in nutrition requires that the Clinical Dietitian have expertise in a wide range of disease entities, treatment modalities, and possesses the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the adult client population ages 18-75 and geriatric population age 75 and over. The Clinical Dietitian may be scheduled and assigned to any nutrition practice area, and must possess the required knowledge and skills to perform nutrition care duties required for each area. The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for: Conducting comprehensive nutrition assessments for Veterans at nutritional risk; developing and implementing appropriate Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) plan of care utilizing the Nutritional Care Process (NCP); documenting in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) in an AND approved ADIME format based on the Veteran's plan of care in all clinical areas assigned in accordance with Veteran and medical program goals and objectives; providing appropriate nutrition care monitoring and nutrition re-assessment considering age, cultural, religious, and ethnic food preferences, learning preferences, physical abilities and psychological needs. The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for planning Veterans/family/caregiver nutrition education and assessing the adequacy of the Veterans/family/caregiver's capacity to carry out recommendations made, monitors outcomes to clinical nutrition interventions and food and drug interactions. The Clinical Dietitian will be involved in the professional practice of dietetics in accordance with the guidance set forth in Nutrition and Food Service policies and procedures and VA regulations governing the practice of dietetics.
Work Schedule: Set schedule from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm including weekend, holidays, and planned leave.

Physical Requirements: Reaching above shoulder; Use of fingers; Both hands required; Walking (up to 3 hours); Standing (up to 3 hours); Repeated bending (up to 1 hour); Sitting for long periods of time; Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.
