The mission of the Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) Programs team is to maximize the physical, emotional and social development of the Navy family. FFR enables a ready Navy force through its Fleet Readiness, Family Readiness and Housing Programs. We service all non-appropriated fund (NAF) employees who work for Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR), Navy Gateway Inns & Suites (NGIS) and Bachelor Housing (BH) throughout the Fleet and Family Readiness Program for the Naval District Washington (NDW) Region.

These positions are targeted to high school graduates, college students and others interested in being considered for temporary summer employment within Fleet and Family Readiness Child and Youth Programs.

JOB SUMMARY: The incumbent will develop and/or assist in developing planned activities for school age program participants including group as well as individual activities such as arts and crafts, sports, games and including field trips. Implements daily schedule and activity plans to ensure age appropriateness. Promotes and models safety, fitness, health and nutrition practices. Helps prepare and arrange for meal service, maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily indoor/outdoor activity schedule. Incumbent establishes a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions with other children, youth, and adults. Provides care and supervision, oversight and accountability for program participants in compliance with all policy guidance and standards.
Position is subject to special inoculation and immunization requirements as a condition of employment for working with children. Employee is required to obtain appropriate immunization against communicable diseases in accordance with recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), which includes the influenza vaccine.
Test Designated Position: In accordance with the Department of the Navy Test Designated Position listing issued 7 October 2003 this position is subject to both pre-employment and random drug testing as a condition of employment. A positive drug test, or failure to submit for testing, may become the basis for removal from this position.
"Marijuana is a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act and therefore use of marijuana is illegal under Federal law regardless of State laws. A positive drug test result for marijuana (or any other drug tested for) will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and ineligibility to apply for a position within the Department of Defense for 6 months from the date of the drug test."
Must possess a valid state drivers license AND obtain appropriate credentials as required. Satisfactorily complete all background checks in accordance with PL 101-647 to include National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI).
Ability to satisfactorily complete background investigation - National Agency Check with Written Inquires (NACI), upon hiring and renew every 5 years.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
This position is to work at NAS Patuxent River Summer Camp 2018. Training will occur between April 15th and the first day of camp (June 11th). This training also requires at least one (1) eight hour Saturday training, between these dates as well as evening trainings throughout the summer. Training will not exceed 40 hours in each week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Prior experience working with children and/or youth preferred but not required.
Must be able to complete all DON training requirements within specified timeframes.
Must pass a pre-employment physical, including pre-employment drug testing and provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable diseases.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment is contingent upon a successfully completed and positively adjudicated National Agency Check (NACI) or higher background clearance as required by the position or local security requirements, reference checks and drug testing.
