- The Licensed Practical Nurse functions as a member of the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) by demonstrating an exceptional degree of practical nursing knowledge and skills necessary for concentrated effort and self-direction in carrying out the most complex practical nursing care assignments.- S/he will be assigned to selected areas of Primary Care including the laboratory for phlebotomy duties. S/he provides care for an adult male and female population of patients requiring skilled nursing on a regular and recurring basis. S/he will be assigned direct patient care duties at the clinic site.
- Contributes to the interdisciplinary team in the development, implementation and evaluation of the patient's treatment plan and promotes the patient's participation in the therapeutic community by fostering self-reliance and independence.
- Administer prescribed medications and performs more complex treatments correctly according to established policies and procedures.
- Performs basic phlebotomy/lab services at the assigned Community Based Outpatient Clinic and is responsible for the collection, processing, and shipping of the required blood specimens from patients. Must be able to accession laboratory orders through VISTA, make lab appointments, answer phones, and refer unanswered questions to the appropriate source.
- Performs support duties for diagnostic procedures, which includes preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination and monitoring the patient's condition.
- Observes and identifies, and provides care that recognizes the differing development and treatment needs of male and female adult and/or male and female geriatric patients.
Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, Full-time: 9:00 am-5:30 pm; Monday thru Friday Part-time: 8:00 am-12:00 pm

Physical Requirements: The position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. Mechanical inpatient lifts are provided. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations, operative/invasive procedures, or home settings. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. The incumbent who provides care in home settings or other off-site locations may be required to drive and/or ride in GSA-vehicles.
