The incumbent serves as the Neuropsychiatrist and Medical Director of the Inpatient Neurobehavioral Program at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), Bethesda, Maryland. This position is located within the Directorate for Behavioral Health. The incumbent reports to the Chief of the Service of Inpatient Psychiatry. The incumbent is responsible for inpatient neuropsychiatric care of patients with behavioral complications of TBI/acquired brain injuries and for strategic thinking and planning related to TBI/acquired brain injuries clinical, research, and training programs. Interfaces with/on behalf of, Command leadership, BUMED, AMEDD, DHA, and NCR-MD requests and responds to taskers related to TBI/acquired brain injuries as requested/directed. Conducts senior-level briefings within and outside of WRNMMC on matters related to TBI/acquired brain injuries when requested/directed. Participates when requested/directed as the WRNMMC representative on task forces, work groups, committees, and similar entities on matters related to TBI/acquired brain injuries. The incumbent responds to media requests and works closely with Public Affairs to communicate TBI/acquired brain injuries clinical, research, and training missions and accomplishments. The incumbent may serve when requested/directed as an expert witness in legal and military justice cases related to TBI/acquired brain injuries as appropriate and as directed. The incumbent is involved in the planning, direction, facilitation, and evaluation of regional TBI/acquired brain injuries clinical and research programs when requested/directed. Contributes when requested/directed in the formulation of the standards of care, clinical practice guidelines, policies, procedures, and other directives for clinical services for TBI/acquired brain injuries based on subject matter expertise, and guidance from all applicable governing authorities.
