Provides design, development and system integration of state-of-the-art telecommunications and networking systems within LSP.
Researches new solutions and implementations for network requirements and applications. Guides team of engineers and technicians in deploying, testing, operating and troubleshooting network systems. Interfaces with launch conductors, test directors, and launch management during operations to troubleshoot and resolve anomalies and system failures in real-time. Works with system administrators on Information Technology (IT) Security to ensure solutions continue to comply with federal laws, regulations, policies and standards. Network systems engineering and systems design is required.
Network expertise working with OSPF, IGMP, IP-multicast, Traffic Engineering, and MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) in a converged multi-service network with Quality of Service is required. This position requires familiarity with Cisco, Brocade, and Juniper network switch and router configuration. It also requires a familiarity with Wireless networking, Fortinet firewalls, What’s Up Gold network monitoring software, Q-in-Q, Voice over IP, and Video over IP services.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Basic Education Requirement: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major study in Aeronautical Engineering, Aeronautics, Aerospace Engineering, Architecture, Astronautical Engineering, Astronautics, Astronomy, Astrophysics, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science*, Electrical Engineering (except power), Electronics Engineering, Mathematics (Pure or Applied), Applied Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Engineering Physics, Oceanography, Optical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, or other appropriate physical science or engineering field.
*Note: Curriculum must include 30 semester hours of course work in a combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science that provided in-depth knowledge of the following: (1) theoretical foundations and practical applications of computer science, including digital computer system architecture and system software organization, the representation and transformation of information structures and the theoretical models for such representations and transformations; and (2) essential mathematical and statistical techniques. Of the 30 semester hours, 15 must be in any combination of statistics and mathematics which includes differential and integral calculus.
