The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 5000 employees.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (SCREEN OUT ELEMENT): Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision. Assist higher grade mechanics in the repair, rebuild, and overhaul, and testing of various fuel and electric/subassemblies associated with specific type of engine, such as turbine or reciprocating, gear boxes, transmissions and various automotive vehicle components. Observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves standing, bending, reaching, stooping, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in shop that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated; is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close places and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area. Exposure to hazardous materials/waste is possible, wears protective clothing and equipment (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, respirator, etc.) as situations warrant.
