About the Position: This recruitment will be used to fill multiple Park Ranger position in two separate locations. Please note these are Temporary Appointments that may be brought back every year during specific seasons for work. The total employment time for this recruitment is allowable up to a maximum of two years. If asked to work 6 months out of a year you may be brought back for 4 years until total time employed adds up to two years.
These positions are located at Lake Mendocino, Ukiah/Mendocino County, California and Lake Sonoma, Geyserville/Sonoma County. Lake Mendocino is a large reservoir which covers 1922 acres and was formed by the construction of Coyote Valley Dam in 1958. Created by the construction of Warm Springs Dam in 1983, Lake Sonoma provides for flood control, irrigation and recreation. Both projects are owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers and, camping, hiking, and fishing are just some of the activities available year round. Both Mendocino County and Sonoma County are beautiful, but may be considered to have a high cost of living. The median house price is 500K. The rental market is high as well. There is no on-site housing available. It is highly recommended that research be done about the cost of living in commuting areas prior to applying.
